The watermaker is finished. It puts out about 39 gallons of fresh water an hour from the cold saltwater at our berth. Under the hatch, this side of the vessel is the Johnson mag-drive booster pump and a T for flushing and pickeling.
9-25-4. The watermaker flushing system is in. Today I placed a tee on the watermaker through-hull and plumbed it to the fresh water system. It connects to the line that is used to provide fresh water to the engine. A brass ball valve keeps the water off when not needed. As a test, I ran the system today and closed the raw water through-hull and opened the fresh water ball valve at the same time. The pressure regulator was set very low. The ships fresh water system then fed the watermaker in a continuous loop. And the salt water in the vessel was flushed overboard by the fresh water. The water used for this purpose was made by the watermaker. That insures that no land based chlorinated water would reach the membrane and destroy it.
